Nameless

A Little man in a tree
Looking down, staring at me
A strange twinkling was in his eyes
With a tear he said, "Who am I?
"Am I Love or infatuation?
Am I Hate or aggravation?
Have I a choice with whom I stay,
But at their will be cast away?"
I thought, but could not reply
A tear grew within my eye
"I know not who or what you be
But welcome you to stay with me
"Be you one or a congregation
Just a city or a nation
You have a place where you can stay
And I shall not cast you away"
Little man, eyes straight ahead
Smiled at the sky; then he said,
"I can not come to stay with you
You know not what it is you do
Whether I be rich or I be poor
Living in or out side your door
I know not what I am to be
I should not and shan't stay with thee"
Little man no longer here
Shook his head to disappear
I stood looking up to the tree
A tiny tear fell down to me
