We got to practice our Spanish and learn how to use pesos instead of dollars. The dollar was worth eight times the peso at that time, thus making this vacation possible for me. This Saturday-to-Saturday trip cost me under $300, small gifts included. Zacatecas is a beautiful and charming little city, rich in history. I would recommend it as a vacation destination to anyone who can speak Spanish or, as in my case, can go with companions who are fluent. Patrick and Ferol were the only truly bilingual members of our club to come on the trip. They kept us from feeling like strangers in a strange land.

Needless to say, there was lots of browsing, shopping, bargaining,
dining and just meandering along the cobblestone streets.
