In this baby's face

I see forever, spring-wound, bursting forth in today

I see my father

I see my mother

I see my aunt with the bright redish hair

I see myself in old photographs shared

In this baby's face

I see my son young

I see my daughter

I see a brother in the wrinkled nose

I see a sister in one sleepy pose

In this baby's eyes

I see a boy child

I see a girl child

I see grandchildren, then more that are theirs

I see in the future our distant heirs

In this baby's gaze

I see an instant of eternity blinked away.
